It was another VERY busy day! We had a parade, played football games, designed footy jumpers and had lots of fun! Here is some photos of our day
Wow! What a busy few weeks! This Term students have been learning all about the diversity of toys. This included how toys work differently, how toys have changed over time and how toys are different around the world. Their challenge was to ‘Create a toy’. We researched, talked to our friends, looked at the toys we had learnt about and then came up with our ideas. This was a long process as students had to plan their solution, research their toy, design it, list and collect their materials before even starting to make it! Then came the hard part- putting the plans into action! We had many failures but through these failures and mistakes students began to have little light bulb and ‘aha’ moments which was where the magic really happened. Students then worked together to make their movie and plan and put together the toy show and museum.Thank you to all families who were able to make it to the show this afternoon. For those who were unable to make it, here are the videos! Let us know what you think by commenting below.
This Wednesday at 2:45pm, parents are invited to our open classroom to see the toys we have made. As part of Challenge Based Learning, we have been working in small groups to research, design and create our own toys. On Wednesday we are presenting and celebrating our achievements. Hope you can make it! Here’s a sneak peak at the work we have been doing…
We have been working extremely hard on our personal writing goals in class in order to improve our writing skills! We have our own necklaces with our goals which are also displayed on our VOICES writing menu. Ask your child what their writing goal is and what they have been focusing on in writing sessions.
We have just begun using the iPad app ‘Showbie’ to submit digital assignments. Each student has their own account within the app and can easily send me their completed work for grading. This app allows easy sharing between teacher and students and allows me to give instant feedback through a voice message or written comments. Open ‘Showbie’ on your child’s iPad to see the assignments they have submitted and the feedback they have received.
We have been learning all about the place value of 2-digit numbers! We have discovered that 2-digit numbers consist of tens and ones and have been working very hard to model, build and record these numbers. Here is a few examples of what we have been doing. Click on the photos to have a larger view.
